The Yeshiva was established with the vision of building true bnei Torah, as well as accepting the crucial challenge of preparing and molding the future leaders of the Jewish people. With these goals in mind, we identified three fundamental components that would be required to fulfill this vision. They are: excellence in Torah learning skills, integrated Torah life skills, and a sense of responsibility for the Jewish people.

Excellence in Torah and its learning skills

The Yeshiva’s educational program was designed and is run by some of Israel’s most experienced and highly regarded Torah educators. It takes into account each student’s unique needs, talents and capabilities, and tailors the program accordingly. In our short history, many of our students have already graduated to some of Israel’s top Yeshivos, where they are excelling.

The Yeshiva’s student body currently consists of motivated young men from a variety of cultures, backgrounds and countries. With students from America, England, South Africa, Russia and Canada, there is a unique blend and synthesis of personalities, abilities and outlooks, all of which help create the warm and stimulating environment that the yeshiva has succeeded in fostering.

Integrating Torah Life Skills

A major emphasis of the Yeshiva is on developing mature, balanced and integrated individuals. Our regular mussar sessions on building and improving character traits are well received by students, as are the noted guest speakers invited by the yeshiva to reinforce the topic.

Much effort is invested in preparing the students for marriage, with the goal of creating healthy and fully functional relationships, as this is undoubtedly the key to the future of the Jewish people. Many hours of pre-marital counseling and guidance are conducted with every student before marriage, and the essential support, encouragement, assistance and direction needed to make a marriage flourish are continuously provided. After marriage, our students remain a part of the Ohr Avraham family, whether they choose to remain in our rapidly expanding kollel or use the skills they have garnered to pursue a suitable means of parnassa outside the Beis Medrash.

A sense of responsibility for the Jewish people

The Yeshiva encourages and promotes the idealism and motivation that inspires our students to take responsibility for the Jewish people. Many of our past and present students are preparing to serve in the Diaspora by participating in training programs such as Ner L’Elef, Ohr Sameach’s Ohr Lagolah, and at Rav Berkowitz’s ‘Jerusalem Kollel’. They will be joining the ranks of a good number of our students who have already successfully completed their leadership training and are now serving in prestigious kiruv and rabbinic positions worldwide.
